Nancy Brookhart-Cherin joins Momentous Volleyball Club for the 2019 - 2020 club season as the Head Coach for the girls  13-1’s team.  Nancy was second-team All-American three times at the University of Illinois from 1987-89, helping lead the Fighting Illini to back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances in 1987 and 1988. Over the course of her college career, Nancy helped Illinois win Big Ten titles in 1986, 1987 and 1988 with a combined conference record of 53-1 over the three seasons. In 1987, Nancy was named Big Ten Co-Most Valuable Player and was named to the NCAA Mideast Regional All-Tournament Team in ’87 as well. Brookhart Cherin was named First-Team All-Big Ten three times from 1987-89. The Illini advanced to the NCAA Regional Final in 1989. During Nancy's four seasons, Illinois combined for an overall record of 124-22, with two Big Ten titles, two Final Four appearances and two other NCAA Regional Final appearances. Brookhart Cherin currently resides in Long Beach, California.





  • Coached 6 seasons with Seal Beach VBC.

  • Served as Assistant Coach for 2013 Seal Beach U-13 Gold Medal team.

  • Coach of 5-time League Championship Middle school team.

  • Coach of 4-time League Championship Lower school team.

  • Played professionally in Europe and on the WPVA Pro Beach Tour, won Gold Medal at USAV National Championship at the Open Division and was named tournament MVP.

  • 3-time All-American at University of Illinois,  was Big 10 MVP, selected All Big Ten Team four years, participated in the Final Four two years.

  • Played for Sports Performance Volleyball Club out of Illinois - took 2nd at Nationals, named High School All-American.

  • Starter for High School State Championship team (Illinois), named to All-State Team.

  • High School All-American

  • #1-ranked college recruit coming out of High School.

  • Inducted into the University of Illinois Athletic Class of 2018 Hall of Fame.

  • Coached 16-1's at Momentous VBC last year.
